Celebrating "Sway" Day

So happily preparing for gym this morning, thinking that this time I will be on time. I had enough sleep, I brought everything that I need.

Blur Occurence #1 -
Took a cab to Orchard Cineleisure and went ahead to change. When I was almost done, shit!!! Where's my shoes? I remember I brought them out. Quickly call home but mom said I did not leave them at home. Now I 100% confirmed I left my shoes in the cab. *sob sob sob*

So sad I almost cried. It was only less than a year old.

Blur Occurence #2 -
I went to search for Kin in the gym, I went up and down all 3 floors 2 times but could not find him. Ended up he was working out at the corner which I missed. argh....

Blur Occurence #3 -
As I still need to go for IPPT this afternoon, Kin told me to get a pair of new shoes opposite at Cineleisure. Yes I know I am supposed to go cineleisure, but I ended up at Heeren. Damn what was I thinking? arghh...

I sms dino and poured out my frustrations. Glad I did becoz only he can pacify me. hehehe...

Blur Occurence #4 -
Back to the gym with my newly bought track shoes. Realised that it was too tight when I put on together with my socks. arrgghhh.... Got to bring them back to change.

Blur Occurence #5 -
Decided that maybe I shall just skip training today. Kin told me to go relax in the steam room and steam away my "sway air" (cantonese). As I was about to change, I realised I did not put my towels in the locker and now they are gone! aaarrrggghhhhhh.....

Blur Occurence #6 -
At Boon Lay interchange, I saw on the map that I could take Bus 405 to Civil Defence Academy. I walked to and fro the interchange 3 times and I could not find the bus!

Fortunately, everything goes on well towards the later half of the day. Except that I did not pass my chin-up at IPPT, as expected.

Now I have a headache, maybe due to the afternoon sun :(

Tomorrow will be a better day...

Choy!!!!!!

This morning at work I emailed Melvin (my best friend cum brother who is in New York) about my auntie.

A few minutes later I received his call on my mobile phone. As I was at work I could not answer his phone call. The next minute I saw his email reply.

In the email he wrote, "Bro, I hope it was typo error, please clarify. I hope everything is fine."

I retrieved the email that I sent to him immediately and realised I made such a HORRIBLE mistake. In my email I wrote to him "Mom passed away last Friday morning, funeral on Sunday morning...everything is fine now"

Ai yooo...... CHOY!!!!!! hahahahaha

Auntie Grace's Departure Flight...... to Heaven

"Kit... wake up... Auntie Grace left already..." I was awaken by mom's voice. I quickly jumped out of bed and the first thing I saw was mom's teary eyes.

It was 8 in the morning. Hospital called to inform that auntie Grace has passed away at 7.35 this morning.

I quickly took my phone and called office to apply for urgent leave. Within half an hour, Mom, Kelvin and I headed to the hospital. All the aunties and sis also reached by the time we were there.

Funny thing was, we all felt thankful to auntie Grace for choosing to leave at the right hour as we all have enough rest. For the rest of the day, it was really busy.

It is weird to say this but I have always wished to be able to help in the funeral so that I can get some experience from this time. When my parents go next time, at least I know what to do.

The funeral will be on Sunday morning.

Finally after so much struggle in life, she left. I am so happy for her as she does not need to suffer in life anymore.

She had a very miserable life. Since young, she admitted to mental hospital as she put too much pressure on herself in studies. Then nothings seems to go right for her during her mid life. She even attempted suicide few times. Mom has pull her up again and again.

When I was in Secondary two, she moved in to stay with us. As her condition still wasn't very good, she always locked herself in my room. There were quarrel between mom and her so many times. When she refused to face the world and only likes to hide in a corner. I was so scared. I see mom cried very often. Everyday after school, I could only sit beside mom's bed to study. I told myself to study hard so that I won't make mom sad. I hated auntie so much that I wished she will die in her next attempt to commit suicide. Of coz it never happened. This went on for years.

Good news was, I really did very well in my studies and made my parents proud.

Her condition got better when she was in her early 40's. I was already in my 20's. Although at times she still made mom angry but she had been more sensible and independent. Mom and a few of my aunties contributed to get a flat beside us.

Only about a year ago that she got tested with cancer. Once again mom's heart broken. Mom accompanied her through all the chemo therapy sessions. Waited there for hours. Walked every steps with her. During auntie grace's last few days, she kept thanking mom for being by her side through thick and thin. She knew she has been very fortunate for having a sister like mom.

For 19 years, mom sacrificed alot for her. So much tears. So much effort. I am glad that mom can finally let down her burden.

Auntie Grace, may you rest in peace in heaven.

Unpleasant Gathering

Since last weekend, everyone of us was already on standby as doctor said auntie Grace might not live through this week. Even Kelvin and Belinda has flew back from Hong Kong and Australia to pay her a last visit.

These few nights I have been coming to hospital after work. Mother and my aunties all take turns to stay by her side.

Today is my off day, so after my piano practise in the afternoon. I headed to hospital.

It was around 6.40pm, Auntie Grace started to show sign of uncomfort. We thought that maybe it was time to refill the medication to ease the pain. However, the situation got worse. Her weak restless body started to struggle abit. Then Auntie Kew whispered to Mom, maybe her time is up. We hurriedly recalled back everybody to the hospital.

By 7.30pm, almost everyone was back. It was hard to describe that feeling. We were all surrounding by her bed. Can see that most of us were trying hard to hold back our tears. Holding on to her. Telling her to relax and let go. Don't hold on, let go of all worries... (So drama right?) Even when I thought I would not cry, I could not control my tears too. It's my first time experiencing this situation.

Things got better around 8pm. So mom told me to go for my piano class. I came back to hospital at 10plus to accompany Kelvin as he plans to stay over. However, as we see that she has been resting quite soundly since, so we decided to go home rest by 11.30pm as I still have to work tomorrow.

Before we left, we switched on the air-con and played her favourite Christmas song CD. Hopefully she can rest well.

Mom

Mom has been really stressed out recently. Auntie Grace's condition is getting worse and might not live longer than 2 months or even 2 weeks. Everyone has been mentally prepared already. These few nights, Mom is sleeping over at her place to make sure she is alright. I'm more worried about mom's health. She is really really tired so am trying to help her in the household chore whenever I could. Wish that mom will be blessed with good health and can enjoy the rest of her life.

Back to work....

One single word to describe.... SIAN!!!!!!! :p

Hate thinking what to wear, Hate squeezing in the train at 8.30am, Hate putting on that sweet smiley voice and say "Good morning, this is Elki! How may I assist you?" arrghh... What the #%$& and leave me alone! humph!

Realised quite a lot of my kakis not in office today :( Geam, Sukii, Terry, Libbie, Esther, Summi, Huiling who are either off or on leave. Tina work 12pm shift, Becky looks sad and moody (or sleepy?). Kin and Kelly seemed so far away. Even Jas seldom disturb me today. haiz...

Spent my lunch hour clearing emails. My eyes almost popped out liao. Got to get away from the computer. So during my 15mins break I sneaked over to Kin's desk, he's my source of entertainment lah. hehehe... hmm.. he was not there leh, so I drew a pig's face on his A4 paper. Then he suddenly appeared, almost scared the hell out of me. *chanting*

Oh someone I must not miss out. Special appearance today: Thyetus Lee. He's another funny guy who never fail to make me laugh. The hunky guy with a feminie voice, always call me "siew siew... siew siew...." buey tahan! I just can't stop laughing. hahaha... But very nice of him that he wanted to introduced me to his friends after I told him I hope to expand my social circle :p

Raining the whole night le, so nice! I love cool weather. It will be good if there's someone who can hug me in a big cozy sofa and watch tv together. That will be absolutely romantic!!! :)

Dream on lor... I go and eat chocolate le...

Off Day 5 - Paint the Living room

A New Day :)

I have promised mom sometime ago that I will help her to paint the living room today. So woke up early to get the work done.

Mom told me she ran out of paint and it was raining heavily this morning. So we waited awhile before we went out to get some paint. Came back around noon time, had our lunch and continue shifting the furnitures and sticking the newspapers. Andrew gor came to help us and mom was so happy.

We finished painting around 4pm. Andrew left and I helped mom with the washing up. All done by 5.30pm. So happy, at least one task cleared. Yeah!

Off Day 4 - Sunday, a day to remember

This is The Day. A day I would never dream to happen in my life - My first piano showcase. Although it was only a short period of 5 months since I learnt to play piano, I am very lucky to be given this opportunity to be part of this event. I treasure this and I appreciate it. I did not regret for giving up my Bangkok trip for this event.

Tonight, it was fun, it was nervous, it was heart warming. My hands could never stop trembling when I was up on stage, even during the rehearsals. I got to know these cool and nice people from my school whom I have never had a chance to talk to. I see so many family and friends who came to support us. The turned out was much better than what I expect.
Surprisely, I am no. 11 to be on stage. This is one of my favourite numbers since Secondary Two. That was when I got position no. 11 of the whole Sec Two level that year. A year that I worked the hardest during school days.

I did not do perfectly well that night but I am glad it went through smoothly. Same for everyone else that night. To most of us, it was our first showcase so we really couldn't hide our fear and excitement.

Thank you for everyone who gives me your support. I am still receving sms before my turn up stage. Especially Dino, even though you cannot make it to my showcase, but you told me you will be humming the song at home at the same time when I am performing on stage. That is so so nice!

Before I go on, just wanted to thank all these people in my life who have given me your support in one way or another:

Andrew Seow - Thank you for encouraging me to take up piano. You know this is my childhood dream and I always think it is too late to start now. You proved me wrong. Thank you.

My parents - Thank you for sponsoring me a piano. You have given me the opportunity to practise my tune any time I want to.

Victor my instructor - Thank you for giving me this opportunity to be part of this group which changed my life. Telling me about life and reality during lesson to prepare me for my future. Your lesson is always fun and encouraging.

Andrew Teo - Thank you for sponsoring me this White Jacket that makes me look smart tonight.

Thomas Hong - Thank you for always being my fashion consultant. You made me look stylish without fail. My colleague commented that I was the only one who made effort to dress up tonight.

Thank you for turning up on this showcase, even though most of you have to start work early tomorrow but you still came all the way here to give me support - My dearest Sister and Brother-in-law, my colleagues - Huiling, Becky, Sukii, Jas, Hadas, my buddies - Jacky, Thomas, Melvin, Andrew, some of my new friends - Sony, Ryan and Alvin.

Thank you for those who given me your support morally because you cannot make it tonight - my parents, Kelly Mommy, Kin, Tina, Justin, Irvin, Chia Shan, Rain, Leonard, Summi, Senny, Geam, Libbie, May, Christine Lai, Esther, Andy Lee, Andy Hsu etc. Sorry if I have missed out your name here but thank you for whoever that has been in my life. Thank you.
last but not least, a person I should never forget but I have forgotten to mention him earlier. My dearest Brother, Melvin Lay. even though you are far away in New York City, you have always given me support morally. You will always stand by me. Thank you Brother. I look forward to see you back in Singapore to play you all the songs that I have learnt :)

Off Day 2 - Friday

Woke up early today and went to run some errands. Came back home around 12noon to meet Mom and Sis to visit Auntie Rhonda at Sembawang. She just had her operation so mom wanted to bring her soup. We came back home around 3plus.

Took a rest and practised piano. Two more days to the showcase, I am getting more stressed up.

Leonard messaged me for dinner and movie tonight. I met him at 7.30pm at Chinatown MRT. Getting to know Leonard a little bit more now and definitely feeling more comfortable talking to him compared to a few months back. Maybe we are more open up to each other now.

We headed over to Ray's salon where Lenz and Sean were having his haircut there. Later decided not to watch movie as Sean needs to get home early. So we had dinner at Maxwell market and went for a drink. I suggested ebar karaoke pub as I never been there.

It was so cozy and we love it. The system was good too. We only sang two songs before we call it a day. It was a great relaxing night. I definitely had fun :)

Off Day 1 - Thursday

I was really too tired last night, did not realise that I have fallen asleep. Woke up at 6plus this morning and realised that my pc still on. I went back to sleep but wake up at 7.30 and sent my uncle off into the taxi to airport. He's going back to Shanghai this morning.

I have spent almost the whole morning and early afternoon practising piano. Only two more days to go before the showcase and I am still not playing well. I am so freaking nervous and worried that I cannot do well. Haiz...

Had my lunch while watching the previous episode of Amazing Race that I downloaded.

As I did not sleep in a good position last night, I started to feel sleepy in the afternoon. So I took a nap... slept for 2 hours. Felt soooo good after a rest. Reminds me of those days when I can nap anytime I want. hehehehe...

I watched another episode of Amazing Race before I get ready to go for my haircut at Chinatown. Met Thomas at Ray's Salon. After haircut, we took a bus down to Raffles City to meet up with Willie for dinner. It has been a while since we last met. We had chicken rice and a nice chit chat cum gossip as usual. hee...

Headed back home after dinner.

***Good news***

Tonight I finally received the notification letter for the Black Belt Presentation Ceremony on 23 November. Yeah! I can finally move on to the next level :)

This has been a year full of ups and downs. Beside these little achievements, some bad news are, two people in my life have got a critical illness that cannot be cured. One of them, my auntie might not live more than 3 months from now. She is so weak now that she can hardly walk. Another person who is even closer to me, sad to say... might be leaving this world soon.

I can only pray hard that they can go to pureland after this lifetime and free from suffering. If you read until here, please help to say a prayer for them. It will help. They are good people that deserve a better life :(

Great Saturday Outing

Had a good long rest today. Woke up late morning, and started practising piano the whole afternoon. I was not performing well today. No matter how much I practise today, I kept playing the wrong note. Guess I am trying too hard.

Went to Riverside point for our Buddy Outing. Just a chill out session at Brewerkz. We supposed to have a room to ourselves but heard that they have some last minute function. We ended up sitting by the river. Luckily the weather wasn't too warm today.

I left the group around 6.50pm and walked to Chinatown to meet Leonard for karaoke. Lenz and Sean couldn't make it that evening so only two of us. Just like the last time, we took turn to sing.
We had the whole four hours to ourselve, one song after another. It was sooo enjoyable! One thing I like going ktv with Leonard, is that we both love to sing cantonese songs, especially the popular songs in the 80's and 90's :) Leonard is a good singer, he has a strong voice and can reach high note. I cannot explain why but when he sings, my heart will melt. Maybe he sounds like Danny Chan who is one of my favourite singers.
I will look forward to our next ktv session :)
